Art Guidelines
Vector Files (*.ai or *.eps) (Preferred file type)
Vector files are mostly created in Adobe® Illustrator.
Consists of points, lines and curves as opposed to pixels.
Not resolution dependent. The resolution does not change when the size is changed; small or large, it has the same quality.
Illustrator files containing special effects (transparencies, gradients, etc.) can produce unexpected results when printed. Files with effects should be saved in raster format.
*Please note that we need all text converted to outlines and CMYK or PMS (solid coated) fills.
Raster Files (.jpg, .tif, .PSD, .bmp OR .PNG)
Bitmap files are mostly created by digital cameras & Adobe® Photoshop.
Resolution dependent, containing a finite number of pixels. If you enlarge a bitmap image, it will lose detail and quality.
For a raster image to print clearly, we prefer to have the image set at a minimum of 150 dpi at full size and proportionally scaled to size.
*No .gifs please.
PDF Files (Portable Document Format)
A standard for representing electronic documents, allowing them to be transmitted and reproduced accurately.
PDFs may be created using any software (i.e. InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, QuarkXPress, Corel Draw and Microsoft® Programs).
